Sketchbook: Spring & Summer Separates

Recognize any of these patterns?

I of course reserve the right to sew--or not sew--however many or few of these items as I want. In whatever order or disorder. If I feel like it.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone! I plan to bake cupcakes, color in the above sketch, block my completed Tomten sweater--and retackle my Mad Men muslin. Maybe.

(And thus concludes my shortest blog post EVER. Do I win anything?!)

  1. I think your new philosophy is great. Things can really start to overwhelm one (and by one I mean me). One of the things I like about doing the suit jacket is that it's the only thing I'm making for the next month. Sure, it's theoretically never ending (or at least it may start to feel that way), but I'm not constantly going from one thing to the next thing trying to get it all done.

And I will be baking and shopping this weekend as my daughter turns 12 on Monday.

    1. That's totally true! Sewing one complicated thing over time is definitely one way of approaching "Slow Sewing."

  2. The mini-me's continue to be adorable. I'm happy you included steph's t-shirt in this line up. I really really want to sew that, and this reinforces that.

  4. This is only semi-related but a while ago you posted about someone doing a t-shirt challenge - I clicked through on the link but I can't find it now. Could you tell me what the blog URL was again, please?

  5. Just catching up with the sewing blogosphere after work travel... I agree with your new philosophy too. Earlier in my sewing life I kept fretting about what I needed or should make but never had enough time for and longing to do more creative work, if only I could get all my needs/basics done. Once I gave that up and decide that I would only make things that I loved and wanted and would get joy from both making and wearing, the stress lifted and I've loved and been content with every hour I put in and every finished project. Anyway, rock on and have fun with it!

I'd love to hear from you! But no ads please--I'll just have to delete them.
